A Scarpa terrazzo staircase brings softness, light and material detail to what was previously a simple, functional space. The client’s brief centred on a soft, subtle, neutral palette, with the aim of giving the staircase a more considered presence without overwhelming the interior.

The stair treads were fabricated in a slim 16mm terrazzo profile, with rounded corners and a soft pencil-round edge that reinforces the piece's quiet, refined character. This detailing gives the staircase a lighter appearance while maintaining a strong sense of craftsmanship and precision.

A custom off-white terrazzo mix was developed using natural stone segments embedded throughout the surface. These stone pieces introduce gentle variation, texture and warmth within the neutral base, allowing the staircase to feel layered and expressive while remaining restrained.

The result is a staircase that balances clarity, softness and material richness, transforming a purely functional element into a defining interior feature.
